The new Attack on Titan: Requiem anime episodes were just announced, with a new trailer accompanying it. This comes months after the manga of the same name was published to create a new ending or the popular series. Attack on Titan: Requiem the anime is a fan made project by Studio Eclipse, the same guys who animated the anticipated Berserk: The Black Swordsman anime. The episodes are set to premiere on January 15th, 2025, just 2 weeks from now.

This is a new illustration of the final chapters of the original Attack on Titan manga. Many fans were not happy with how Eren’s journey ended in the original canon. The anime will cover chapters 137, 138, and 139 which were re-written into one chapter in the fan-made manga. It was after the success of this alternate ending that Studio Eclipse decided to animate it into an anime format. From the trailers alone, we can assume that passion and talent was pout into creating this masterpiece and that it will be perfect.

Of course the source material will always have first place as the creator Hajime Isayama, intended it to end that way. Even if the story didn’t end as we wanted, it still worked as a perfect ending to Eren’s journey and the freedom he was seeking. From the Rumbling to the aftermath of what it did to the world, it is actually good to see what could have been if Eren chose another path. If you want to see this what if scenario to AOT, please keep a look out for when the episode drops this month.

This is of course assuming that the episode will actually be released. We know how the previous project that Studio Eclipse had taken on, Berserk: The Black Swordsman, had a lot of issues before it actually released due to copyright claims and the owners of the IP urging the studio to delete it or get sued. We pray that this won’t happen to AOT: Requiem as many fans are looking out for when it drops, and we will see if this is a better ending to what we got.
