If you have been following the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga for the past 3 months, you know Konoha has been on a mission to subdued the Shinju over in the Sand Village. The Mission included Konohamaru, Sarada, Mitsuki( all from the Hidden Leaf Village), Yodo and Araya from the Sand Village. This was a mission to retrieve Gaara who at the moment had been sealed by his adopted son Shinji for his safety. On the way there they encountered both Shinji and Moegi’s Shinju, that is Ryu and Matsuri.
The mission shifted from only saving Gaara to subduing both Shinju, since it was a scarce opportunity to pass up. Matsuri took Konohamaru since he’s the one she wants to devour while Ryu stayed behind with the others on a wild goose chase to find Boruto. On the other side of the field, it looked like everything was going according to plan. Moegi’s affection for Konohamaru was prevalent as it also affected her shinju Matsuri.
This was a win con for Konoha since Matsuri didn’t want to consume Konohamaru. If the cards were played just right, a situation that already occurred in Konoha would happen here. Of course I am talking about Eida, who through a similar situation with Kawaki, was converted from being an enemy of the Village to an ally. But that isn’t what Konohamaru is doing. Everything was going well until Matsuri decided to ask Konohamaru a personal question. This would be the downfall off the whole mission, excluding what is happening on the other side.
Matsuri decided to ask Konohamaru if she would be able to call him Konohamaru-chan. This of course took Konohamaru by surprise since the only one who calls him that is Moegi. They practically grew up together so this was a tall order for Konohamaru to accept, that is if this mission was not important to the survival of mankind. The planet is on the line here from aliens who want to suck it dry of its life. All Konohamaru had to do was say yes then most probably, Matsuri would have taken it to heart and maybe betrayed Jura and her fellow Shinju. Jura at the end of Chapter 19, states that Love is an unforeseeable disease that has affected humanity. He also states that he can’t understand it and that since they have the personality of the ones afflicted by the tree Shinju, this diseases may also affect them, derailing their judgement for world domination. We literally see this in effect with how Matsuri behaved when she was with Konohamaru.
At this moment, it is unclear what Matsuri will do to Konohamaru after he decided, as a Ninja, to compromise the mission for his own heart and morals. This is the dumbest thing anyone has done in the history of Konohagakure . We know that the Shinju are not necessarily different people as they are more of Clones than Children of the affected. All the Shinju except Jura, have the personality of the person they bit back when they were Claw Grimes. This is explicitly shown with the way Hidari and Matsuri acted when in front of those they wanted to devour. If Konohamaru is devoured by Matsuri, everything would change since one of the Shinju will have accomplished their evolution. As of now we don’t know what will come out of a Ten Tails Shinju devouring a human they desire, but we know it won’t be pretty. Konohamaru needs to get his head back in the game, rizz up Matsuri and make her a valuable ally for the oncoming battle. All she asked was for a name, how much more do you need.
