In the Latest chapter of One Piece, Chapter 1149, Oda dropped one of the biggest crumbs of Information ever since the Egghead arc started. When the God’s Knights came to Elbaph everyone was theorizing on who they could be. Gunko was an anomaly that most of the fandom could not take a hold of who she was. No theory came close to what Oda just revealed. In the last Page of chapter 1149, it was revealed that Gunko knew Brook and that this Bond was more than that of a fan, to their favorite musician as shown before.

After witnessing Colon call out to his dad, Scopper Gaban, Gunko is hit by an influx of memories the seemed to have been locked away. She remembers a similar tragedy that had happened to her when she was a kid. From what the memory shows, it can be concluded that Gunko’s father was killed in a similar manner as to how she took out Scopper, in front of her. Reliving this experience is what brought forth the memories of her childhood. But this is not the most important part. Gunko then remembers talking to a man who’s silhouette is pretty obvious to decipher who it is, and the ‘YOHOHOHOHO‘ did not help either. This was clearly Brook in the past talking to Gunko about his dream of becoming a pirate. Right after this, Gunko seems to come to her senses and immediately charges towards Brook in a face of nostalgia, only for Imu to take over her body. But does this mean that Brook is Gunko’s Father?

What One Piece theorists are not understanding, is that the memory that Gunko got first was of her father and not Brook. It was a separate excerpt showing Gunko crying while calling out to her father who is seemingly dead. The memory that follows is from another time when Gunko met Broo and they seemingly created a familial bond with each other. We have seen this time and time again during the course of one piece, where characters have father or mother figures who are not their biological parents. From Luffy and Dadan, to Robin and Soul, this kinds of relationships have been seen throughout the story so it not a stretch to say, Gunko and Brook share the same. Not that much has been revealed but what we do know is the time period when Brook and Gunko may have met.

In the memory, Brook seems to have a Rapier rather than the Shikomizue, that he has as a weapon to this day. This narrows down the timeline. We know that before Brook joined the Rumbar Pirates, He was the Captain of a Protective convoy for a certain Kingdom in the West Blue. This would mean he would most probably have a standard issue weapon like the rapier rather than his current Soul Solid. This means Brook met Gunko more than 52 years ago from the current timeline. Considering that Brook died at 38, and most probably joined the Rumbar Pirates at around 30-35 years of age, it would mean that he met Gunko10-15 years before dying in the Grand line. Gunko should be theoretically 50-65 years of age if she didn’t die yet. But she clearly seems young, probably a byproduct of Imu’s influence and this may also clear up why she is a vessel chosen specifically by Imu.
