A Bleach remake might be happening, if what the anniversary trailer showed is to be believed. It had been 10 years since the original Bleach anime aired, back in March of 2012. Everything came full circle when it was announced that the ‘Thousand Year Blood War‘ arc, was to be adapted in anime format. In October of 2022, Bleach returned with stellar animation from Studio Pierrot and ignited the hype for it once again. It can be said that Bleach is in need of a remake, to capitalize on what traction it has gained.
It is needless to say that the original Bleach anime had it’s fair share of problems, when it aired back in the early 2000’s. From multiple filler arcs being added to not catch up to the manga, adaptation issues when translating the manga into anime format, to animation that would not stand in this day and age. All of this accumulates to many fans being turned off, when they decide to join in on the hype. Many anime fans who want to join the ‘TYBW’ hype train can’t do that because, in normal standards, it’s an ‘old anime’.
Anime today is filled with works of art that make fans quiver in joy, when they watch their favorite shows. From Demon Slayer, to Jujutsu Kaisen, the anime industry has shifted its focus to make sure their Ip, is the best out there when competing with each other. The ‘TYBW’ arc has reached it’s 3rd Cour, and fans are thrilled at how good it looks in comparison to the original anime. Studio Pierrot didn’t help but fuel the flames when they released a trailer, commemorating Bleach’s 20th anniversary. The trailer was filled with iconic scenes from the original anime, re-animated in TYBW animation.
This showed fans that a remake would blow the roof sky high, if it will ever get announced. People need to remember that this was a special trailer made to commemorate Bleach’s 20th anniversary. It was not stated to be a remake. The situation is the same as when Studio Pierrot made a ‘9 minute’ trailer to celebrate Naruto’s 20th anniversary. That was not a remake announcement and this, might also not be a remake being shown to be in the works. Studio Pierrot still has Ip that they need to focus on after Bleach TYBW has ended such as , Black Clover and Boruto. This isn’t a remake for Bleach, but that doesn’t mean it will never happen. We may be seeing the start of a journey where it will be confirmed, and the remake will not be a fairy tail hope.
