The Berserk: The Black Swordsman anime that has been in production for the past 2 years has been officially shut down due to copyright issues over the airing of the anime. From Studio Eclipse, a fan company that took matters into their own hands to produce and animate Berserk, the Black Swordsman anime was supposed to be the break that all the fans of the berserk anime were lookin for. After tons of very atrocious adaptations by Studio OLM, this masterpiece has seen its own share of bad.
The new anime, which was scheduled to air in Summer of 2025, had a lot of fans who were looking forward to a faithful adaptation of the incredible manga that the late Kentaro Miura created. Berserk is a very hard manga to adapt due to the heavy Seinen tropes that it emphasizes in its pages. This leads to very heavy censorship rules on the anime, leading to unfaithful adaptations as we have seen in the past.
The official Berserk X account, officially put out a warning to Studio Eclipse to stop production due to them not having the rights to create or even air the anime as scheduled. They don’t have the necessary tools to air the anime without breaking some copyright laws since the anime is not officially licensed. This is sad since we literally don’t know what will happen to the Eclipse Project after the trailers showed a lot of promise of a faithful adaptation of the manga. All we can do now is pray that Studio Eclipse find a loop hole, so that we can finally enjoy Berserk as it was meant to be seen. Thanks for reading the article and lets hope that come this time next year, the new anime for berserk would be airing and making waves in the Animanga Community.
