The final design of the new Canonized Super Saiyan 4 transformation, was finally revealed in the latest episode of Dragon Ball: Daima. This revised version of the Dragon Ball: GT transformation was a spectacle to see, as Goku finally achieved it in his adult form. But the changes done to the transformation have left fans in disarray since it’s a different take on what the transformation was about.

As many may know, Dragon Ball: GT is not canon to the main continuity of the Dragon ball timeline( Dragon Ball, Z and Super). This made the Super Saiyan 4 transformation invalid as the events of the show don’t tie in to the continuity. The transformation was achieved after Goku( turned Golden Oozaru), was able to confine the power of a raw Saiyan into a humanoid form. That explained why Goku’s personality took a drastic shift when he went into this curious transformation. It was Primal, pure Saiyan genes on display and not forgetting, you needed a tail to achieve the transformation. But this is not the case in Dragon Ball: Daima.

From the hair color change from Black on red, to Red on Red, the Late Akira Toriyama decided to completely change the lore behind the Super Saiyan 4 transformation. From what we currently know, Goku was able to achieve Super Saiyan 4 due to Neva’s intervention. He seemingly unlocked a hidden power that was within Goku making him able to achieve this graceful transformation. Needless to say that Goku is now able to grow his tail at will when he goes into Super Saiyan 4, while still maintaining his charming personality.

On top of this, the color of Goku’s hair in Super Saiyan 4, greatly resembles that of the Super Saiyan God transformation that was introduced in Dragon Ball: Super. The Pinkish- Red color of divine power is the same color scheme Akira Toriyama chose for this transformation. It’s not clearly stated but many fans believe that Dragon Ball: Daima is canon to Super. This is yet to be proven because some events in Daima clearly contradict what was revealed in Super, a sequel if it’s actually Canonized.

Back on the topic of the God transformation, we can clearly see a perfect correlation with how this ties in to Dragon Ball: Super. If the Late Akira Toriyama’s Super Saiyan 4 transformation was deliberately introduced to emphasize the story of Dragon Ball, then this may well acknowledge that the color that Super Saiyan God downs is a throwback to the previous transformation. Perhaps Goku had already tapped into his God Ki without realizing since he never actually fought a God to realize this( no props to Gomah). This may contradict the Battle of God’s timeline since Goku clearly stated that his Super Saiyan 3 transformation was the peak of his power. Either he can’t use the transformation outside of the demon realm, as it would be a Demon Realm Exclusive power up, or he literally forgot how to achieve the transformation.

Will Daima conclude the story with a Universal level Amnesia plot twist or how will they explain Goku not using the Transformation during the Events of Super. Fans will have to wait and see if the story will be coherent with the start of Super, or will Daima just be another ‘ not canon’ event in the Dragon Ball Timeline? We just have to wait and see…….
