If you have been keeping up with the My Hero Academia anime, you know how Studio Bones has been upping themselves in correlation to the production of season 7. MHA has never been this good back to back on a weekly basis. The plot, the animation, to the art direction and hype character moments, season 7 of MHA has been hitting differently compared to the other seasons. If I were to compare it to the others, only SN1 and SN3 might come close or even be better in some instances. That is not to downgrade the rank but his season has been damn good.
The ‘Blue Sky‘ is finally out of the picture, bringing tension and setting the mood right for the final battle. We all remember how the start of season 6 felt flat, with it introducing the big bad on a clear blue sky. It didn’t feel right. Shigaraki was supposed to be this end of the world type villain, but the setting was not it. Not only did the blue sky remove all tension, but the tone of the desperate fight the heroes were in, was simply not there. I know that it was blue in the manga but, the manga is black and white, the translation is different when you put actual colors in. If you want the audience to fell uneasy about the Deku and the gang, you need to set the atmosphere to match the disparity of the situation. Imagine Madara fighting the shinobi alliance, but the sky is blue to the point Naruto might just drop the war and go to the beach. That is what the first half of season 6 felt like.
We also can’t forget the ‘ Vigilante Deku’, later half of the season that didn’t have any meaning. We know how sentimental Deku is, but his motivation was way off. Not only did nobody significant die in relation to him, but the anger as misplaced. Leaving UA was a right choice, but all the development Deku had in this arc was drained down at the end of season 6. Why put him through tribulations, harden him and make him see the dark side of society, only to bring him back to UA as if nothing happened. You can literally switch this arc with a training arc and season 7 will be the same.
What I’m trying to convey is that season 7, fixed everything that was wrong with the previous installation. Shigaraki finally feels like the last boss, and with every plot twist connected to All For One, the plot is progressing very well. I just had a thought, imagine that when Deku was using Gearshift to fight Shigaraki, everything was the same, but the sky was blue……comment down below on how that would look. Thanks for reading the article.
