The Dark Lord’s Confession Goes On Hiatus After The Craziest Cliffhanger Ever In Webtoon History

The popular Webtoon series The Dark Lord’s Confession, has been confirmed to be going on an extended hiatus after Ep 121 was released. This came as an official announcement from the Author, Topseoung. This announcement has startled slot of readers since the cliffhanger that was left, was not short of being diabolical. From revealed that would change the course of the story moving forward, to the main villain being revived, The Dark Lord’s Confession has revealed why it’s a top 10 fantasy story over on the Webtoon platform. But this is not all fans are left with as they wait for the series to return.
The reveal that Arverna( the main antagonist), was revived by none other than Lapis( the Dark Lord), was baffling to say the least. This feud that started over a thousand years ago, seems to have crawled through the cracks of history and bear it’s fangs on the present. Arverna was a menace back when she betrayed the Dark Lord, and now that Lapis is nowhere near the same power level she had before, she might win the battle that’s coming. The divine nature of Arverna that she stole from the Dark Lord, has been shown to be more powerful than ever since she has resurrected. Calla does point out that Arverna has been buying her time, healing up from the wound she got a thousand years ago, and throughout history has somehow gotten closer to what one may consider to be a God. While masquerading as the Divine tree, she spread her roots all over the continent essentially feeding off the despair that the magicians felt through the curse. Since she is connected to it, it seems she has been amassing power for her inevitable revival. This is not good since the only person who can fight Arverna is the Dark Lord herself, and Lapis right now is not up to task.
All the plot twists that were revealed in the latest couple of chapters, will give the fandom a good amount of content to theorize on what might happen. The Author Topseoung stated that the priority of the hiatus, is to increase the publishing schedule rather than rush the series’ return. This is actually valid considering the art direction that the Webtoon follows. It unique and captivating to the eye, not considering that it’s a weekly release Webtoon. If the schedule for creating and publishing the Webtoon is improved on, the process of it all will make the finished product be the best version it could be. We don’t know when the Webtoon will resume but following tradition on the platform, we can guess it will take about a year. Webtoons always go on hiatus for about a year before they return, providing an ample time for the series’ issues to be resolved. So Spring or Summer 2026 is when the series will return, that or if rushed, the Dark Lord’s Confession will return by December 2025.
Will Lapis and camp be able to win against Arverna? With four stars still in the sky, Lapis doesn’t have the power that she needs. A combined effort between the Disciples, the Magicians and Lapis’s friends will be needed to defeat this unstoppable force. Calla on the other hand seems to be able to understand the situation and maybe, she will take the mantle again to be the Dark Lord in an attempt to protect Lapis. As it was said a few chapters ago, the happy days in Area Academy are over and the age of war is upon the world again.
