Uzumaki Episode 2 had fans questioning why the 4 year wait was for, as the highly anticipated anime just got a severe dip in animation quality. This was a jeering shift from the masterpiece that was ep 1. From differences in animation and art direction to the pacing being all over the pace, ep 2 of Uzumaki was a rollercoaster of emotions for fans who were eagerly waiting for it. All this development was just revealed to be a mishap by the change in studios who were animating these episodes.
An executive producer who was at the forefront in the production of these episodes, revealed that the studio that handled ep 1 were not he ones who animated the second one. Ep 1 was animated by Studio Fugaku and was later replaced by Studio Akatsuki for the production of ep 2. On top of that, the staff was highly different from the ones who produced the first ep which brought a lot of problems for the anime down the line. This caused a domino effect which resulted in the quality drop in ep 2.
It was also revealed that the options on ep 2 of Uzumaki were very few, since the problems had already piled up. It was either they aired nothing or finish the episode and air it even though the quality as axed. Nothing could be done and as it stands, the remaining 2 episodes could all see a severe dip in quality as stated by the Executive Producer. ” We were screwed over during production” is all the Executive producer said happened to this masterpiece of an anime. All fans can do now is pray that the quality does not go all the way down, to the point of replicating the worst falloffs in anime. We don’t need another Boruto or Seven Deadly Sins situation on our conscience. Junji Ito’s work and masterpiece deserves better, and this is not it.
