The Blue Lock season 2 trailer just got aired, but the response was not positive. Set to air in October 5, 2024, the second season of this sports anime, might not gain notoriety as the 1st season did. Studio 8-Bit may have just stopped and destroyed the momentum Blue Lock season 1 gained. The craze that Blue Lock had when it aired back in 2022, may just as well vanish after the display that the season 2 trailer showed.
From being one of the most popular anime series airing in 2022, to getting a movie adaptation of the Episode of Nagi, blue lock is by far one of the most popular sports anime out there. Getting to show anything in theaters is no easy fit. The movie did fairly well, scoring a 85% rating on rotten tomatoes and a 6.6/10 on IMBD. This score is actually good which makes you think that after this, the second season will gain some more care to keep the trend going. But this is not the case.
The trailer has been gaining negative reviews from influencers on YouTube and TikTok, making this situation very dire. The animation shown in the trailer is not necessarily bad, its just not good. It is filled with still images in every frame, as if this is not a sports anime. Movement is key when trying to portray superpowered individuals playing football. On top of that, the CG showcased in the trailer is not good. Season 1 had issues with animation, partly because of Studio 8-Bits schedule, but it was watchable. As we follow Isagi and the others in season 2, all we can hope for is that the animation improves. Maybe the anime when it airs will have better animation than what we see in the trailer.
